Puerto Galera Snorkeling

There are a lots of things to do in Puerto Galera and one of our favorites and some say the most fun and most popular is the Puerto Galera snorkeling you can enjoy during your vacation here in paradise. There are activities you can do on land, air, and water when traveling all over the islands here in the Philippines, and some that are really adventurous figure out a way to do all three.

One of the popular activities is the Island Hopping where you can go around the small islands surrounding Puerto Galera and enjoy the private small islands all to yourself. If you love Island Hopping then you’ll gonna love it even more when you try the snorkeling package in Puerto Galera as well.

Puerto Galera Snorkeling

Snorkeling

For those of you who don’t know what snorkeling is, Snorkeling is the practice of swimming on or through a shallow part of water and can be a whole lot of fun for all ages to enjoy as it is not only safe considering you will have a life vest on, but is also quite easy considering what it all entails. You do this while wearing only a diving mask, a breathing tube called a snorkel, and swim fins.

This is popular for those who are wanting to see and explore the corals and different kinds of fish without diving deep into the waters. It’s also a great beginner course for those who are considering one day try their hand at diving, as the principles fall along with the same concepts and requirements for diving in the ocean.

Puerto Galera Snorkeling

In the Philippines, snorkeling is becoming more and more popular, because there are a lot of beautiful beaches and preserved marine life. Take for example here in Puerto Galera, besides scuba diving and other activities that this place offers, snorkeling is one of its most popular attractions for many tourists and guests staying here in Puerto Galera. From couples to groups, many travelers love snorkeling here. So much that they often times will do so every time they return due to the sheer beauty of the snorkeling and sea life found here in Puerto Galera.

There are a lot of destinations for snorkeling here in Puerto Galera, two of them are:

  • Coral Gardens
  • Giant Clams

Let me talk about it more in detail as these two locations are really amazing for all skill levels of snorkeling, let’s start with the Coral Gardens.

Coral Gardens

Coral Gardens serves as one of the great Puerto Galera snorkeling destinations, especially for beginners due to the shallow water and ease of seeing so much of the sea life with little effort. There are many species of coral reefs and sponges that let schools of tropical fish play and live around them giving you the opportunity to see so much within a short amount of time. Here you’ll see some lionfish, rare crabs, flatworms and so much more all on just one trip snorkeling at this great spot.

Scuba Diving in the Philippines

Coral Garden is relatively shallow. So be careful not to step on any corals as they are fragile and it is also worth mentioning that occasionally you should be aware of strong currents.

Giant Clams

Another must-visit Puerto Galera snorkeling site is the Giant Clams. Giant Clams is just a few minutes away from Muelle Pier making it easy to access by small boats. You can reach the site in less than twenty minutes and it truly is a must-see experience that so many come back year after year to see.

Scuba Diving in the Philippines

This area is full of gaping bivalves with schools of colorful damselfish and different species of fishes swimming around. This is a unique experience for someone who never tried snorkeling before.

Again these are just the two of the most popular site you can choose when you go Puerto Galera snorkeling. There’s still a lot more for you to discover and plenty to see all over the island and while most locations can be accessed from shore it is always best to take a boat out as this offers you the best opportunity to see the sea life in its full beauty.

Whatever site you go to will surely not disappoint you. Puerto Galera takes their marine life and beaches as their treasure so they tend to look after it.

The boat can cost you around P200 per person, per site. As you can see in the photo above you always have the luxury of holding on to the outriggers of the boat while they tow you along to see more colorful fish in less time.
