Fun Things To Do In The Philippines

by Sean on March 13, 2012

In this video, discover all the fun things to do in the Philippines.

In case you didn’t know, the Philippines is awesome. There is a reason why we live in the Philippines and not elsewhere. We love living here, especially in Puerto Galera (where Badladz is).

If you come to Badladz, we can show you all the fantastic activities in the area. Along with the incredible scuba diving that everyone raves about, there are numerous cool things to do.

On one day, you can explore Pondorosa Golf Course, a magnificent golf course 2000 feet above sea level. From here, you’ll be able to see all over the area. It is a great place to get photos. The golf course is good enough for you to have a great game, but don’t expect anything equivalent to a professional golf course in a Western city.

The next day, you could relax on one of the many amazing beaches. You’ll have time to work on your sun tan as well as get a massage on the sand.

You can also play paintball, drive go karts, hike through the jungle and visit the local indigenous people.

Puerto Galera is very typical of the Philippines. Just like there are great things to do in Puerto Galera, there are also lots of fun things to do in the Philippines.

Fun Things To Do In The PhilippinesYou can start anywhere, but for the sake of this article, let’s start down in Davao. Davao is a fantastic city. In Davao, you’ll beautiful water-filled caves, great scuba diving, lots of white water rafting and one of the 3 best wakeboarding parks in the Philippines.

Further north, at Cagayan De Oro, there is a lot more scuba diving. Further into Cebu, you’ve got sailing, scuba diving, free diving (a rapidly growing new sport) and water skiing.

As you continue around the Philippines, you’ll find heaps of great places for scuba diving and boating.

Forget about Manila – there’s not a whole lot to see and do if you’re in Manila. Continue north to Subic Bay and beyond. Along the coast, you’ll find numerous spots for great diving (especially wreck diving). There is also plenty of sports fishing (huge fish!).

As you come around the top of Luzon, you’ll find loads of awesome surfing spots. Near Samar, you’ll discover the world’s number 1 left-hand surfing break at Surigao. The waves are so great that plenty of people go there just to watch the waves.

We told you – there are plenty of fun things to do in the Philippines. You will have the best time in the Philippines. When you come, be sure to pay a visit to Badladz in Puerto Galera. We have some of the best diving, not only in the Philippines, but in the world. Also, you’ll love the Puerto Galera nightlife.

Living in the Philippines is amazing. Oh, sure, it has its ups and downs, but we love it here.

The best way we can describe living in the Philippines is that it’s like an amusement park.

You step off the airplane. You get into the cart. Keep your hands and feet inside the vehicle… It’s going to be scary, it’s going to be exciting, and you’re going to have the time of your life.

If you have never been to South-East Asia, then your first few days in the Philippines will be wild. You’ll arrive and you’ll probably be slightly nervous. The Philippines will surprise you in many ways. Some things will be familiar, such as the mega shopping malls, the multi-million dollar freeways and the towering skyscrapers.

Living In The Philippines at BadladzOther things will shock you.

The Philippines is a third-world country. Yes, there are rich people here, but the vast majority of people live below the poverty line. Many people earn less than $5 a day, with some people earning as little $1 a day. You will see beggars sleeping in the streets, many more times than you will ever see in the west. Some will be missing limbs. Some will jingle a cup in your face because they want some coins.

Despite the overwhelming poverty, almost everyone has a cell phone. This is one of the fascinating things about some countries. People struggle to find enough money to eat, yet they all have cell phones.

One of the reasons that living in the Philippines is like a riding a rollercoaster is the total unpredictability of everything. In most Western cities, everything is very structured and orderly. In the Philippines, nothing could be further from the truth. There is very little routine. The 7:30am boat to Puerto Galera almost never leaves at 7:30am.

The traffic is a mess. If you want an adrenaline rush, rent a motorcycle and go riding through normal traffic in the Philippines. You’ll need to weave in and out. Warning: there are no rules. If you want the right of way, you’ll need to honk.

Going around a corner? Honk.

Overtaking someone? Honk.

You’ll also find people talking about “Filipino Time”. What they mean is that 3pm doesn’t mean 3pm, especially when a Filipino tells you to meet them at 3pm. It might mean 3pm, but it might also mean 3:30pm. People have a much more fluid understanding of time in the Philippines than we do in the West.

All in all, living in the Philippines is absolutely fantastic. Even just visiting for a week or two is bound to set your spirit alive. Traveling broadens the mind and forces you to grow. When you come to the Philippines, be sure to stay at Badladz! With fantastic nightlife and awesome activities, you’ll have a blast.

In this video, check out Angeles City, the town of bars, nightlife and outrageous times.

Angeles City is the entertainment capital of the Philippines. It stands out because it’s growing faster than any other cities outside Metro Manila. This is due to a number of reasons.

Angeles City is in a fantastic location. It’s easy to get to and it’s in a very central location. It’s almost next door to Clark International Airport and only a short drive from the Subic Freeport Zone.

Along with the huge nightlife district, the city’s universities continue to turn out top-grade students, making it an awesome place if you’re interested in business opportunities in the Philippines.

As you can imagine, the nightlife district has a huge impact on the local economy (just like the nightlife does in Puerto Galera!)

Angeles City

Despite everything going for Angeles City, it lies in the shadow of Mt Pinatubo, a super-volcano. As recently as 1991, Mt Pinatubo erupted. This resulted in the evacuation of the nearby American Airforce Base at Clark. The base was abandoned and nothing happened for a number of years. However, after a time, it was cleaned and developed and it became the Clark Special Economic Zone.

With the huge entertainment and tourist industries, combined with the convenience of Clark International Airport, Angeles City is destined to become one of the premier cities in the Philippines.

While you’re in Angeles, be sure to visit the main entertainment district on Fields Avenue. If you want to stay for a longer period of time, rent an apartment.

Of course, you’ll still want to visit Puerto Galera when you come here. But if you have time, take a trip up to Angeles to have a look around. There are no beaches nor scuba diving to do, but you’ll have an incredible time anyway. There are numerous hotels and resorts where you’ll be able to book into.

If you come to Puerto Galera, stay at Badladz Adventure Resort or Badladz Beach Resort. We’ll be able to help you plan the next leg of your journey to Angeles City. While you’re here, we can point you in the direction of all the Puerto Galera activities worth checking out. You can go scuba diving or paint-balling. There are go karts, mud karts and great jungle treks. In Puerto Galera, there are plenty of things to do. As a bonus, the weather is always fantastic and summer lasts all year around.

Stop dreaming about your holiday and book today.

Things To Do In Cebu Philippines

by Sean on February 27, 2012

If you’re looking for things to do in Cebu Philippines, watch the video above. We love Puerto Galera too, but sometimes it’s nice for a change ;) .

We love Badladz. The atmosphere in Puerto Galera is fantastic and there are so many things to do. From the famous nightlife to the awesome Puerto Galera activities, there is something for everyone. The scuba diving is known as some of the best in the world, with numerous dive sites scattered in the waters around Puerto Galera.

But suppose you want to visit a few other places when you come to the Philippines. What should you check out?

Cebu!

Cebu is a province in the Philippines. It is one of the most developed provinces in the country and it is a center of commerce, trade, industry and education.

But more importantly, there are numerous exciting things to do in Cebu Philippines.

Compared to Puerto Galera, it’s a little warmer in Cebu as it’s closer to the equator. As you move closer to the equator, it gets warmer.

In the video above, we’re in Ayala Mall in Cebu City. This mall is fantastic. There is a central garden area where you can relax. You can go shopping all day, and when you want to relax, you can come out into the garden.

Things To Do In Cebu Philippines

One of the great things about Cebu is that it is very central. There is an international airport so you can fly in and out of here.

When it comes to adventure and things to do, Cebu is a great place. In virtually every direction, you can find numerous adventures.

You can leave from Cebu on a fast craft and go to Bohol. From Bohol, you can go to Aluna Beach in the Chocolate Islands where you’ll find tiny monkeys.

From there, you can ride the fast craft all the day to Dumaguete. You’ll find fantastic diving here, as well as the famous Apo Island (not to be confused with Apo reef which is on the other side of Mindoro). To complete the circle, you can come up by bus to Cebu again. If that’s not enough fun for you, take a bus north and go scuba diving with the thresher sharks.

There are a number of other reasons that Cebu is awesome, especially when compared with Manila.

One of the great things is that taxi drivers don’t argue. You can just get into a taxi and they’ll turn the meter on straight away.

Also, Cebu is a great place to rent a motorcycle and ride out into the hills.

Come stay at Badladz in Puerto Galera and we’ll give you more ideas about things to do in Cebu Philippines.

Money Changers In The Philippines

by Sean on February 21, 2012

Are you worried about money changers in the Philippines? Don’t know how to do it or where to go? In the video above, find out how to keep your money safe.

Many people worry about changing money while in the Philippines. This is wise.

You see, the Philippines is a third-world country. As we’ve said before, the poverty here is striking. If you haven’t been to a developing country before, it will probably shock you.

Despite the problems, we have a helluva a time. Don’t let your worries stop from coming and enjoying this wonderful place. However, be aware of the problems and street-smart.

When it comes to money changers in the Philippines, you need to be careful. Don’t do it at the airport as they’ll rip you off. Forget about banks as they don’t change money.

Most of the time, you’ll need to go to a Philippines Money Exchange shop, like in the video above.

One of the first things you want is for the money changer to be busy. If the shop is busy, it’s probably safe. They’re also likely to have enough cash to change your money properly.

Money Changers In The PhilippinesIn the video above, you’ll see one of the busy money changers in the Malate / Ermita area. A lot of money changers from the province come into Manila to use this one. They’re honest and they’re busy (that’s a good sign).

In this area, there are hundreds of them, but you need to be careful. Money changers in the Philippines play all sorts of games.

For example, one trick they’ll do is take your money and disappear. They’ll say that they’re going to check with the boss if they can change your money. When they come back, they’ll give you your money back but it’ll be counterfeit money.

Another trick is counting the money so it looks correct, but really, they’ve taken a chunk out. To avoid this problem, count your money while you are still at the counter. Don’t listen to any stories from the money changer about not being able to count it there.

Yet another trick is counting the money and sliding it across the counter. As they slide it across the counter, a small slot on the top slices off a chunk of bills.

There are many more games that they play.

To avoid problems with money changers in the Philippines, only use busy money changers. Most shopping malls have money changers.

Also, there are ATMs in most tourist areas, so if you have an ATM card, you’ll be able to withdraw cash in most places.

Cell Phones In The Philippines

by Sean on February 20, 2012

In the video above, learn about cell phones in the Philippines. When you come to the Philippines, communication will be no problem at all.

First, watch the video above. It will probably make you jealous, especially if you’re stuck in the cold, wet and icy Western world. We all know what it’s like, slaving away in the office. We have to make money here too, and man, does it suck to work on a laptop every day, tryin’ to make a living.

That is, it sucks when your view isn’t Puerto Galera.

The great thing about communication in the Philippines is that it’s no problem at all.

When you arrive, you’ll be able to get a cell phone for about $20. If you bring your own unlocked phone, you’ll be able to buy a sim card, which is only a few dollars AND comes with credit.

The Philippines is a very poor country. If you haven’t visited the developing world before, you will probably be shocked by the poverty in the Philippines. Despite this, there are many multi-million-dollar shopping malls. Inside each of these malls, you’ll be able to buy mobile phones, computers and lots more. One of the crazy things about the Philippines (and most developing countries) is that despite the poverty, almost everyone has at least one cell phone. It seems that regardless of how poor someone is, they have still got money for a cell phone.

If it’s internet you need, you’ll be fine in the Philippines. At Badladz, we have free WiFi in the restaurant areas. Bring your laptop and your WiFi enabled cell phone and you’ll be able to get work done in our restaurant.

Cell Phones In The PhilippinesYou can also buy a wireless internet dongle. Do this, and you’ll have internet access practically anywhere, including in a location like the video above. Get your work done from the beach, or from the top of the mountain. So long as you have internet access, you can work anywhere.

That’s one of the beautiful things about living and working in the Philippines. Set yourself up with a business that you can run online and you’ll be able to work anywhere. Settle into a life of relaxation and travel.

It’s a wonderful life when you stay at Badladz. With jaw-dropping vistas, white sandy beaches and lots of ice cold beer, you should book your holiday today. Stop dreaming about it and make it happen! Come and experience the amazing Puerto Galera nightlife!

Getting A Visa In The Philippines

by Sean on February 13, 2012

In this video at the Bureau of Immigration Philippines, find out how easy it easy to get a visa in the Philippines.

One of the great things about the Philippines is that it’s very tourist friendly. If a number of countries in South East Asia (Thailand and Bali, for example), getting a visa is annoying. You have to leave the country every 30 or 60 days, just to get your visa.

In the Philippines, it’s very different. The Government wants you to come to the Philippines. They want to make it easy for you, and they do!

You don’t need to leave the country to renew your visa and you can keep this up for a very long time. If you’re coming to enjoy the amazing Puerto Galera activities or nightlife, you’ll be able to stay here for as long as you would like.

All you have to do is get on a plane and come here. Book your trip now and come. You don’t need to apply for anything. Just turn up at the airport and they’ll let you in. When you arrive in the Philippines, the Bureau of Immigration Philippines will automatically give you a stamp for 21 days.

After that, you can travel to your heart’s content. Whenever you get the urge (or whenever you run out of time!), just renew your visa wherever you are. There are Immigration offices through the Philippines where you can extend your visa for a little cash.

Bureau of Immigration PhilippinesIn Puerto Galera, the Immigration office is in the center of town. It’s about 10 minutes from Badladz, walking. The cost of renewal depends upon what renewal it is, but it’s generally around 3000 to 4000 pesos for one or two months.

The first visa you get is 21 days. The next visa is 38 days. After that, you can renew for up to 2 months at a time, for up to a total of 16 months without leaving the country. Then you can request a waiver  and then extend for 2 months, for up to another 6 months.

So in the end, you can stay in the Philippines for up to 2 years without leaving the country. This is a much better tourist situation than in Thailand or Bali where you have to leave every month or two. You can effectively stay in the Philippines for 2 years on a simple tourist visa.

In the video at the Bureau of Immigration Philippines above, you’ll see the place you need to go if you’re in Manila. They have places like this in most tourist towns in the Philippines.

In the video above, we check out the Adventure Park in Puerto Galera. It’s a riot of a time and it’s one of the must-see Puerto Galera activities.

If you follow Badladz or keep up with the Badladz YouTube Channel, you’ll know that there are tons of great Puerto Galera activities. When you come to Puerto Galera and stay at Badladz, you have an absolutely wicked time. You’ll never get bored. For as long as you are here, there can be a non-stop stream of action.

However, we’re in the tropics, so despite all the adventure, you’ll probably want to relax, at least for a little bit of the time.

Extreme Sports Philippines is just 10 minutes walk from Badladz Adventure Resort. On the way, we walked beneath the beautiful jungle canopy, passing a few small Filipino towns. Motorcycles and tricycles sped past us as we made our way to the adventure park.

What is Extreme Sports Philippines?

It is the one-stop shop for all adrenaline junkies in Puerto Galera. Along with 200cc Go Karts, ATVs and off-road buggies, they’ve also got paintball, jungle camping and zorb ball.

Puerto Galera Activities AdventureDon’t worry – we had no idea what a zorb ball was either. Imagine rolling down a hill, inside a transparent, inflatable ball. You can go solo or roll with a partner. You just gotta hope that no one throws up on the way down!

When we decided to pay Extreme Sports Philippines a visit, we took the go karts for a spin, as well as the off-road buggies in the mud.

The off-road track winds its way through coconut trees and giant puddles of mud. On the very first lap of the track, we got completely splattered with mud. On the second lap, once again. And on the third lap, we were screaming with excitement as we tore through the creek bed.

After the mud, we jumped into the 200cc go karts and ripped around the track. With the wind in our hair and beautiful tropical scenery around us, we raced and vied for the top spot.

At the end of these awesome activities in Puerto Galera, we grabbed a few ice cold beers from the shed and kicked back in the sun. What a fantastic day!

Later that night, we went out on the town and had a blast with the famous Puerto Galera nightlife. Man, life is tough in Puerto Galera, Philippines. You NEED to come visit. Once you get a taste for it, you’ll never go home.

The Diving In Puerto Galera Is AWESOME

by Sean on February 7, 2012

The diving in Puerto Galera is absolutely world-class. It’s no wonder why thousands of people come to Puerto Galera every year to go scuba diving.

When you come to Puerto Galera to go diving, you set yourself up for the holiday of a lifetime.

It is tropical paradise here. While you’re coming to explore underwater, you’ll spend most of your time above the surface; at your hotel, in restaurants and walking around this magnificent place.

Fortunately, Puerto Galera is filled with all the things you could ask for from a bona-fide tropical paradise. There are tall coconut trees that sway in the warm tropical breeze. Being the tropics (and the amazing Puerto Galera weather), the sparkling blue water temperature stays between 26 and 29 degrees celsius. This means you can go diving in Puerto Galera at ANY time of the year.

What awaits you under the sea?

Many incredible things.

From giant clams to vividly colored fish, from ancient Spanish Galleons to Chinese Warships from thousands of years ago, from shallow reef diving to deep, dark diving to the depths, there is everything you need for a wonderful diving holiday in Puerto Galera.

One of the great things about the diving in Puerto Galera is that it has been a protected marine sanctuary since the days of Marcos The Dictator. Puerto Galera was intended to a playground for the Manila elite. For that reason, most of the incredible biodiversity has been protected from destructive fishing practices.

Immediately out the front of Badladz Adventure Resort, you can explore the giant clams. Further out, there is a wreck of a 50ft motor boat that burned and sank in 2002.

Diving In Puerto GaleraAs you move out, you come to a shipyard. As can be expected, this is a great place to go wreck diving. Under the shipyard, there are numerous wrecks and ships that litter the sea floor.

When you get into the Manila Channel, you pass a spot where a friend found a Chinese junk from the Ming Dynasty era in 15 meters of water. You’ll find some of the things he discovered in Museums around the Philippines.

You can follow the peninsular the entire way around to Badladz Beach Resort and there are numerous scuba dive spots along the way.

Puerto Galera is a wonderful place, and the Puerto Galera diving is no exception. There is so much variety, splendor and excitement to be had. You’ll have the time of your life when you come diving in Puerto Galera. It’s one of the best activities in Puerto Galera.
